Delete a Category

Before deleting a category with products, the products will need to be reassigned to a new category,  or you will not be able to complete deletion. 

If a category is being used in active inventory allocations, the category will need to be removed from all active inventory allocations.  If the inventory allocations that contain the category are being used in active offers, the offers must first be placed on hold, then the inventory allocations must be unlocked before the category can be deleted. You cannot undo deleting a category and deleted categories cannot be reactivated.

 

Delete a category with no products

  1. Go to the Products menu in the Sales sidebar and click Categories.
    • You will be taken to the Categories page.
  2. Click the search icon and type the name of the category to delete.
  3. Click the category's 3 dot menu and select Delete.    category_ellipsis.png

Delete a category with products and reassign its products

  1. Go to the Products menu in the Sales sidebar and click Categories.
    • You will be taken to the Categories page.
  2. Click the search icon and type the name of the category to delete.
  3. Click the category's 3 dot menu and select Delete.

  5. Click Confirm.

 

Delete a category being used in active inventory allocations

  1. Go to the Products menu in the Sales sidebar and click Categories.
    • You will be taken to the Categories page.
  2. Click the search icon and type the name of the category to delete.
  3. Click the category's 3 dot menu and select Delete. 
    • A list of active inventory allocations containing the category will appear.category_ellipsis.png
  4. Click each Inventory Allocation to be taken to its page.

    To open each inventory allocation in a new tab, press command + click (MAC) or control + click (PC).

    If an inventory allocation is locked, it is being used in an active offer(s) and the offer(s) must first be placed on hold before the inventory allocation can be unlocked. If the inventory allocation is not locked, the category can be removed by clicking the category's delete icon.

  5. If the inventory is locked, go to the Offers menu in the sidebar and click Offers.
  6. Click the search icon and type the name of the offer to place on hold.
  7.  Click the active offer's Bamboo ID in the Bamboo ID column.

  9. Return to the offer's assigned inventory allocation and click Unlock.                                 Unlock_IA.png

  12. Return to the Categories page.
  13. Click the category's 3 dot menu and select Delete.    category_ellipsis.png
  14. Click the Choose New Category To Reassign Products drop-down and select a new category for the products.
  15. Click Confirm to reassign the product to the selected category and delete the category.
